Leadership Howard County Staff


Stacie Hunt became President and CEO of Leadership Howard County in 2002. Together with staff, board and alumni, Stacie leads an organization dedicated to developing community leadership and positive impact through its signature Premier program and an active organization of alumni. She has an extensive background in the nonprofit sector, and a deep knowledge of community affairs and civic engagement. Stacie completed the Leadership Premier program in 2002 as a manager for United Way, before becoming CEO later that year. A graduate of Auburn University, she received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Business Administration. Stacie is board member of the national Association of Leadership Programs, the Howard County Library Board of Trustees, The Horizon Foundation and chairs the University of Baltimore’s Certified Public Manager Program Advisory Board.  She is a founding partner of the Board Bank, and belongs to numerous advisory groups that serve our community. In 2015 she was named to the Maryland Daily Record’s list of Top 100 Women and in 2016 she was awarded the SmartCEO Brava Award. In 2017 she was named to Howard County's Women's Hall of Fame for her longstanding service to mentoring women in their roles of community service.  

Vice President of Programs

Laurie joined Leadership Howard County in 2002. She is responsible for overseeing program development and implementation for the signature Leadership Premier program, and for coordinating community impact projects for class members. Previously, Laurie directed the youth leadership programs, Leadership U and Youth on Board, and helped design and launch Leadership Essentials, a program for young professionals which she directed from 2008 – 2011. Laurie is a member of the Leadership Howard County Class of 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University, a Master of Arts in Training and Development from George Washington University, and a graduate certificate in Organizational Development from Georgetown University. Her experience in program and leadership development includes work at Providence Hospital, the Environmental Protection Agency and the University of Phoenix. Currently, Laurie serves on the board of directors for the Association of Community Services and is past board chair of HC DrugFree. She served on the Advisory Committee of the Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County and was a founder of Journey, a summer camp program for middle and high school girls.

Director Youth Programs

Meg joined LHC in 2016.  She is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of Leadership U, LHC’s leadership program for high school students. Meg has spent the past 14 years doing high level volunteer work with a number of Howard County community nonprofits, schools and youth sports program.  Meg has been involved with the Howard County Lacrosse Program for the the past 10 years as the Girl’s Executive Vice President.  She also spent many years as a volunteer for Trinity School, FISH of Howard County, Glen Mar United Methodist Church's Vacation Bible School, Elkridge Food Pantry, St. Martin’s Home in Catonsville, and Sarah’s House in Ft. Meade.   Meg and her family have been members of the Howard County community for 28 years.  Currently, Meg serves as a member of the board of trustees of Trinity School. Previously, Meg was an information technology professional and manager.  She spent 8 years working as an information technology manager for the Social Security Administration in their Office of Information Management and 9 years working in information technology consulting for numerous companies including Martin Marietta.  Meg holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Albany with a minor in Business Administration.

Director of Communications & Administration

Karen Bryant joined Leadership Howard County in 2008 and manages the overall organization-wide messaging, communications, media, advertising, social marketing and business development strategies. Karen’s extensive background in the nonprofit sector began when she was with the United Way of Central Maryland.  A certified grant writer, Karen has also worked as a contractual writer and is an active community volunteer. Karen earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University in Psychology and Sociology, and a Master of Arts Notre Dame of Maryland University in Adulthood and Aging.

Operations Coordinator

As operations coordinator Chris oversees Leadership Howard County’s online resources, internal databases, website, office operations, and event registrations. He also manages membership requests and online resources for current class members. Chris joined Leadership Howard County in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Elon University in North Carolina.

Event & Operations Assistant

Nikole McWright joined Leadership Howard County in 2018 and provides administrative support and operational assistance.  Nikole's background includes experience in the non-profit sector, providing direct care to youth and human resources support.  Prior to joining LHC, Nikole worked in the human resources field as a consultant serving a variety of companies across many industries.  Nikole holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and is also a certified PHR.
