My experience with Leadership Howard County gave me invaluable insight into the way in which people and institutions shape my community. The program enabled me to develop strong and enduring relationships with my Leadership classmates, all of whom are exemplary leaders in their professional and personal lives. The program fundamentally changed my perspective about my own responsibility as a community leader and showed me how to contribute to the betterment of Howard County.
Upcoming Leadership Howard County Events
As part of Leadership Howard County’s mission to provide continuing opportunities to learn about and serve the community, we host a number of events primarily for members and sponsors. These include quarterly General Membership breakfast or lunch events which feature noted speakers or panels to discuss perspectives on leadership and issues relevant to community leaders. Additionally, Leadership Howard County presents a number of other events that promote networking and social engagement, such as the annual Iron Chef Cookoff Challenge, community service projects, and a variety of other fun events for members.
Our annual Big Event is not only our major fundraiser, but an opportunity for the community to hear outstanding speakers discuss the significant difference individuals can make in their community. The Big Event is open to the general public. Previous keynote speakers who exemplify extraordinary leadership have included Dr. Ben Carson, Cal Ripken, Cokie Roberts, John Walsh, and Jane Pauley.
In 2013, the keynote speaker will be Eric Greitens, former Navy SEAL, humanitarian and bestselling author. Click on the Big Event link for more information and registration.
