Tour the newly opened Leola Dorsey Community Resource Center, the first of its kind, permanent supportive housing facility located in Jessup that houses 35 formerly homeless individuals and provides ‘one-stop shop’ walk-in services for up to 120 currently homeless people per day to receive services on their quest to self-reliance.
The facility includes 35 permanent residences and a first-floor day resource center operated by Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center. Construction began on the center last June, as part of a pledge by County Executive Kittleman to end homelessness in the county.
The Center is a community partnership between Volunteers of America Chesapeake, Grassroots, and several government agencies.
