Sue Emerson manages organization-wide messaging, communications, media, advertising, and social marketing strategies, and provides leadership and coordination of fundraising and business development activities. Sue also coordinates marketing support for the LHC task forces engaged in the new strategic planning process.
Sue comes to Leadership Howard County with an extensive background in marketing nonprofits and small businesses. She previously provided marketing strategies for nonprofits at Emerson Communications, and was Director of Business and Community Development at Howard County Tourism where she promoted the county and its attractions through special events and promotions. She also served as Director of Marketing at Historic Savage Mill, where sheimplemented strategic marketing campaigns for the retail businesses and developed community partnerships to build awareness of the Mill’s historic significance.
Sue and her family have been members of the Howard County community for 17 years, and she has been an active volunteer in the community. Her activities have included leadership roles at Glenelg High School, and volunteer services for the Howard County Arts Council and Columbia Festival of the Arts. Currently, Sue is a member of the board of trustees of St. John’s Parish Day School, and provides event planning and resource development for the Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County.
Sue is a Leadership Howard County Graduate, Class of 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary, and a graduate certificate in Publications from George Washington University.
