Coaching

Leadership Essentials seeks qualified leaders to work one-on-one with this year's participants.  Please review the Coaching Application for more information. Applications are due September 12, 2008.

Going into the program as a coach, I expected to be impressed by the participants accomplishments and her passion for growth. I was looking forward to gaining insight into the world of a younger generation. What really surprised me was my participants incredible ability to integrate new insights and new ideas almost instantaneously. And even beyond that, I was inspired by her ability to translate this new information into specific actions. For the amount I gave in time, I received much more in return.

Community Service Projects

As part of the Leadership Essentials program, we are seeking Community Service Projects that can benefit the community and its service providers as well as provide a real challenge to our young professionals. Last years Leadership Essentials graduates reported that the service project component of the program was truly a worthwhile experience.

As part of the program, small teams of Leadership Essentials class members will be assigned to complete a community service project (February May 2009) Projects can address the objectives or issues of a single agency or a group of agencies. Consider projects that require strategic thinking, process improvements, and applications of skills likely to be found in such a group

This is a mutually beneficial experience for your agency and these young professionals. Your agency benefits from the talent, skills, and professional capabilities of the participants and they gain a better understanding of community needs and a deeper appreciation for community involvement.

Please submit proposals electronically to Ian Kennedy at ikennedy@howardcountymd.gov by September 26, 2008. Agencies will be contacted by October 15^th if their proposal is being considered by the committee. In addition, you may be contacted for clarification on the project scope or to further define the project scope if needed. Final Project selection will be completed by Nov. 30, 2008.
